The Kansas legislature enforced some rules and regulations that will apply to the entire state.

Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism

    • The use of UAS is only permitted within specified UAS operating areas located at some state parks. Within the operating areas, flying over people, structures, campgrounds, or beaches is prohibited.
    • Prohibits the use of a UAS for hunting. Both federal (16 USC 742j1) and state (32-1003) statutes prohibit the use of aircraft to take wildlife.
    • Permits the use of UAS for filming on land not owned or managed by KDWPT as long as it is not used as part of taking or locating the game.

For more information about UAS use, contact the state park or appropriate regional office. Contact information is available on the department website, www.ksoutdoors.com

    Senate Bill 319 (2016)

This Kansas law defines harassment as per the “Protection from Stalking Act” to include drone operations over or near any dwelling, occupied vehicle, or any other place where a person may have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
