Drone Fly Through Tours | Drone Jobs

The newest video marketing trend are drone fly through tours and videos shot in one take.

Drone technology has revolutionized the way we capture and view aerial footage, opening up a host of new job opportunities in the process. One such opportunity is that of fly through tours, a form of aerial videography that involves a single flight through a building or subject, with numerous scenes shot in one take.  Typically fly through tours are shot with cinewhoop drones.

Fly through tours are an exciting and innovative way to showcase a property or location, offering a unique perspective and a sense of immersion for the viewer. They can be used for real estate marketing, tourism promotion, event coverage, and more.

    Defining Fly through Tours

    1. Aerial Video shot as one take through a building or subject
    2. Flying through tight spots and unique objects
    3. Super smooth flying in complex environments
    4. Multiple scenes throughout the flight
    5. Adding sound design
    6. Typically shot on cinewhoop drones.

To capture a fly through tour, a skilled drone operator must have a thorough understanding of aerial videography and FPV flight techniques.   As well as a strong sense of composition and visual storytelling. The operator must also be proficient in the use of drone technology and have a solid foundation in flight safety and regulations.  Which when these flights take place indoors, there aren’t any regulations.

    Indoor Flight Insurance Warning:

In addition, most drone insurance may not cover flights indoors. Be sure to read the fine print of your policy and ensure you’re covered to fly inside.

As demand for fly through tours grows, so too does the need for trained and qualified drone operators. Those with a background in film or photography, or with experience in drone operation, may be particularly well-suited for this type of work.

In addition to operating the drone, there are also opportunities for post-production professionals to edit and produce the final video. This can include color grading, sound design, and special effects.  Most Fly through tours are shot on one clip making editing quite easy and simple.  This significantly reduces the time it takes to produce the final video.  Editing one clip makes the timeline easy to drop in audio design or sound effects.  Drop titles, graphics and music and your video can be delivered with speed.

Fly Through Tours are Fun Drone Jobs that Scale Easily

Fly through tours offer pilots an opportunity to show off their pilot skills.  As learning how to fly cinewhoop can be challenging for certain drone pilots.  Pilots who have learned to fly LOS or line of sight, like consumer drones, they may have a more difficult time transitioning to FPV style of flying.  The extreme skill needed to fly indoors smoothly is the primary reason drone pilots are able to charge higher premiums for these drone jobs.

The extreme skill may not scale well, unless your drone pilots go through Drone U training.  While scaling the skill is more difficult, scaling these jobs is quite easy.  Due to the simplistic nature of this style of filming, it rarely requires additional gear or additional media capture.  Pilots may want to capture sound effects to match the scenes they show on video.  Albiet there are rarely additional cameras or perspectives. Which makes scaling these drone jobs quite easy.  With just one video clip, pilots could even setup templates in Premier Pro to delegate the editing of these jobs.

Overall, the job opportunities in fly through tours are diverse and varied, offering a range of roles for those with the right skills and passion for aerial videography. As the use of drones in this field continues to evolve, the demand for skilled professionals is only set to increase.
