DJI leaks new details and video on the FPV drone that will launch March 2, 2021.
The DJI FPV drone is already slated to be completely different than any other FPV drone the market has already seen. The new drone leaks from DJI showcase drone footage that is rather unique from the FPV drones we've gotten used to. As FPV drones typically lack high quality cameras and lenses. Luckily drone pilots will know all of the details as soon as tomorrow, March 2, 2021, when DJI is scheduled to launch their version of the FPV drone.
The Drone U Flight crew has already predicted this particular FPV drone will fundamentally push the FPV industry ahead. This will be the first FPV drone that offers an All-in-One or "ready-to-fly," package for consumers to purchase. Not only is this drone a full package, but it also includes a camera that is on a gimbal. That is unique for any FPV drone.
We stated that having a gimbaled camera and FPV camera could allow pilots to share unique experiences when flying this aircraft. This could bridge the gap for traditional FPV pilots to hop on the DJI train. It could also push other manufacturers to fix cameras on gimbals for future drones.
DJI's newest teaser page will surely give you a few more clues. Frankly, DJI offered many clues with the newest leaks ahead of the launch. The drone footage showcases some extremely important details to pay attention to.
Currently in the FPV world, you're purchasing an aircraft, a separate remote and goggles, and also separate batteries for your drone. You want a camera on that FPV drone? Well chances are you are probably mounting a GoPro camera to the drone. The common workflow from FPV pilots would take that GoPro footage and stabilize it using Reelsteady. Albeit this workflow is also extremely myopic. Most Reelsteady licenses only work on GoPro footage, which means your camera options are limited. If you follow some of the bigger "FPV" boys and girls, you'll even see them flying Komodo cameras. (You're crazy btw...)
Most FPV pilots do fly GoPro cameras and do count on software to stabilize this footage. How does DJI convince FPV rebels of using their products... just make the entire workflow easier and more convenient. This is how DJI will change the environment for FPV, simply put they make life easier by:
When drone pilots can purchase a drone, camera and just go fly... the FPV industry will grow. It is easy to argue that the DJI FPV drone could also really open up the broader market to drones. It is easy to understand how younger pilots will be drawn to this aircraft. If we were to make another prediction, watch the production and film industry accept DJI FPV at scale...
