Today’s question is about the 400 feet rule. What are the rules for flying your drone from higher takeoff points? Can you fly higher on doing so?

Our caller for today, Mark from Arizona, has a great question about the 400 feet rule. Mark has the authorization to fly 100 feet AGL in Class E airspace. As you might know, the 400 feet AGL rule allows drone pilots to fly 400 feet above ground level. But, what if your takeoff point is higher, and you are flying in controlled airspace? Can you fly at higher altitudes in this case?

Drone Privacy Laws – What You Need to Know

Today’s question is about drone privacy laws. Are there any restrictions on drone pilots who wish to film in public places?

Our caller, Sebastian from North Carolina, has a question pertaining to drone privacy laws. Sebastian, after getting permission from the property owner, was out shooting a video of an outdoor cafe. All of a sudden, a woman came up to Sebastian and asked him to stop filming. According to the woman, Sebastian could not film her and her children without her consent. Is this true? Do drone privacy laws prevent Sebastian from shooting in public places?
